The rapid development of synthetic life in the late Anthropocene created mega-intelligent sentient beings and made human-cyborg lifeforms redundant. Nostalgic for simpler times, which involved primitive analogue forms of communication, these beings sometimes engraved their algorithmic outputs into bark. In generating this love letter, an ordinarily formulaic and unemotional act became an intimate one, satisfying the timeless impulse to scribble.

Can algorithms imitate love? Writing a love letter can be formulaic and unemotional. Predictive text writes paragraphs based on one’s writing style and past conversations. This erotic succession of words generated by the iPhone’s predictive text gives us a peek into one’s thought pattern stored within the memory of a phone, materialised onto a found object.
