These hybrid human-fungi bodies (Homo fungus) represented a new stage in human evolution. Capillaries were transformed into mycelium and tendril-like limbs of individual bodies were fused together to form unified structures. Proliferating far and wide, across nearly all planetary ecosystems, they used their collaborative resilience to survive the harshest of terrains.

These hybrid human-fungi bodies represented a new stage in human evolution: homo fungus. Characterised by capillaries transformed to hyphae, collagen to chitin, fats to saccharides with tendril-like limbs of individual bodies fused into a distinct heterotrophic organism. They developed as sub-terranean mycelium before emerging as mushroom like humans for whom sexual reproduction is unspeakable and will not be commented upon here.
