Building Blocks

Various locations, Suffolk coast

21st century

These bricks were initially developed as a child’s plaything. However, their versatility and indestructability led to their being used for the construction of coastal dwellings from the mid-21st century on. At this time, storms and flooding caused increasingly frequent damage to human settlements. The bricks, which floated, could be easily collected and re-assembled.
